So, how was your Christmas break, Johnny?

"Well, my dad shot two cops through a door!"

I guess the police viewed the eight-member family as a violent gang?  I heard initiation was bloody and nasty.  I think they even taped it sometimes.  That's just gross.

Officer Garcia says:

He was firing through a door -- didn't know who was behind it. It could've been a relative coming home.

Yeah, my relatives frequently break in through the windows.

You would think that the cops could just - oh I don't know - drive by the house during the day to make sure the violent gang had more than two people over 48 inches tall.  Five broken windows and 22 bullet holes later, only the two cops were hit.  It's a good thing those cops can't shoot.  To their credit, they were outnumbered.

Ugh.

I live in the Twin Cities Metro, and it was really, um, interesting, how the media played this off at first. Then the truth came out that the family inside was completely innocent. Yet another reason that the constitutional warrants and knock-and-announce requirements must be enforced. Too bad the Court has seen fit to riddle these rules with so many exceptions that they are essentially empty "constitutional" promises.

This calls for paid leave

and review from within the department!
