Well, we had a good time while it lasted, but it seems the tax-free internet sales will be coming to an end.

My prediction about the New York thing: Internet retailers will not want to go through all the trouble of registering as a tax collector for New York and they'll just refuse to ship there.  My timing for moving to NYC is just perfect.

$3 Bllion to NOT Use Handhelds

So apparently there was a plan for the Census Bureau to actually get off of the current paper system and move to handheld computers.  These would be used by those who have to go searching for the people who didn't respond to the census by mail.

Well, the plan didn't work and now it is going to cost an extra $2.2 - $3 billion and that's "in addition to other costs not associated with the handhelds."

Wow.

According to the government complaint, Sohail and other defendants “created and fostered a business environment” at the Jackson Hewitt franchises “in which fraudulent tax return preparation is encouraged and flourishes.”

I guess it was noticeably cutting into the 2 trillion.
